Ulrike Rohn bio image

Ulrike Rohn is a Professor of Media Management and Economics at Tallinn University, Estonia, where she works at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM) and where she co-leads the Centre of Excellence in Media Innovation and Digital Culture (MEDIT). She works on managerial decision-making in the media, on audiovisual industry and market characteristics, as well as on entrepreneurship. Her books include “De Gruyter Handbook of Media Economics” (2024, edited with M. Bjørn von Rimscha and Tim Raats); “Media Management Matters: Bridging Theory and Practice” (2020, edited with Tom Evens), and “Cultural Barriers to the Success of Foreign Media Content. Western Media in China, India, and Japan“ (2010).

Ulrike Rohn also leads the two-year, English-language MA-study program Screen Media and Innovation. She has initiated and led various nationally and internationally funded research projects, including the Horizon2020 project ScreenME on screen media entrepreneurship (2019-2023). Ulrike has served on various editorial boards, including the Journal of Media Business Studies, and she has served as President of the European Media Management Association (Emma) from 2016 to 2021.

Ulrike Rohn also hosts the ScreenME podcast, a podcast on entrepreneurship in the media.
