Eszter Hajdu

Eszter Hajdú, born in 1979 in Budapest, is a multifaceted filmmaker and researcher with an extensive educational background, including Electronic Media from the University of Szeged, Sociology from ELTE University of Budapest, and Nationalism studies at the Central European University. Her film education expanded across Europe, including training in Italy, Romania, and participation in IDFA Festival courses in Amsterdam. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in film direction in Portugal. Hajdú's filmmaking is dedicated to exploring stories of individuals and communities facing societal exclusion, providing insight into broader social issues through personal narratives. Her sociological research complements her film work, delving into topics such as the reputation of Nobel Prize-winner Imre Kertész in Hungary and politically conservative Jews. Hajdú's film "Judgment in Hungary" received international recognition, including nominations and awards at film festivals like the Trieste International Film Festival and One World Prague. Eszter has collaborated with notable producers and companies, including PAX TV, Dan Nutu, János Vészi, and Sándor Mester, contributing to her distinguished portfolio. Currently residing and working between Portugal and Hungary, Hajdú continues to make impactful films that seek to foster understanding and harmony.
