PÖFF (MTÜ Pimedate Ööde Filmifestival)

The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Pimedate Ööde Filmifestival or PÖFF in Estonian) is one of the biggest film festivals in the world and for sure in North Europe. Since 2014 it has been accredited by FIAPF as a competitive festival without geographical and thematic borders. Despite its limited budgetary capacity, compared to festivals of the A-statute, thanks to its lean and effective operations, PÖFF has demonstrated over the years the capacity to grow creatively and size-wise, contributing significantly to the local and regional agenda, as well as to the European film industry at large. The festival has achieved recognition both for its focus on independent and unique author’s voices in cinema, an egalitarian curation policy mixing up-and-coming and established filmmakers, as well as its wide programming platform addressing the whole life cycle of the audience, especially concerning European works and filmmakers from underrepresented territories.
